cocktails: mint juleps
Thursday, May 2, 2013
The Kentucky Derby is right around the corner! Can't make it to the race in your fancy dress and big hat? Well make a Mint Julep instead!
Mint Julep
What You'll Need:
- 2 oz burbon of your choice
- .5 oz simple syrup
- mint, lots of mint
- crushed ice (preferably the Sonic variety)
As every good Southern girl knows- you don't crush or tear the mint leaves in a Mint Julep! You gently press the leaves (as many or as few as you desire) to naturally release the oils within the mint leaves. You can use the back of a spoon to do this -- some people muddle but i think that breaks the leaves up too much. Place the mint in the bottom of your cup and add the simple syrup and mix. Next, pour in half of the bourbon and mix again. Then pack your cup with ice and pour the remaining half of the bourbon. Last but not least, add a straw and a sprig of mint for garnish!
Enjoy!
-Mary

covet: cathy waterman jewelry.
she has the most beautiful stack rings. they also come at a pretty penny.
a girl can dream.
purchase: i think that every girl should invest in a monogram necklace. not sure how you could be any more classic than this. i have seen them at $500 and i have seen them as low as $125 (at a local boutique). find that bargain and enjoy. it will never go out of style.
obsess: this beautiful dress is designed by the equally beautiful katie ermilio.
she is an extraordinary designer based out of new york city and i am OBSESSED. she is a style icon of mine and a continuous inspiration.

newest obsession.
Thursday, March 28, 2013
ok, so i wanna let you know about a little obsession of mine. one word: PIXIWOO. pixiwoo is a sister duo, nic and sam, (which obviously mary and i love) who are make-up artists from london that vlog step by step celebrity make-up looks to everyday looks.
at the beginning of the year my friend leah introduced me to them and i've been hooked ever since. pinterest, facebook, twitter --- forget it -- their youtube channel is my jam and basically all i care about now. they are my beauty gurus.
nic
sam
one of my favorite things they do is show which products are the best quality. i used to just go to the store and pick out the item with the coolest bottle/packaging and cross my fingers hoping it'd be a winner. but now i have an arsenal of information on their favorite products and not just the really expensive ones, but things you can find at your local drugstore if you are in a pinch for time or money -- which usually for me is both. they have also inspired me to save my pennies and dream about owning a things like tom ford lipstick (one day!).
anyways, thought i'd share with you some of the knowledge i've learned over the past couple months-- here are some of their picks on a go-to staple: red lipstick.
also another great thing -- sam makes her own line of make-up brushes called real techniques. i have them and love, love, love them. they are really reasonable compared to mac brushes and others and they work really well. below are the two starter kits, which i have and i also have a stippling brush. you know what else is awesome? i bought them off amazon. and with my prime account they were in my hands in two days!
well. i hope you'll be as hooked as i am!

weekend wear: work event
Wednesday, January 23, 2013
this past weekend was a working weekend for me! the only redeeming quality of working on the weekend is that i got to bring out my little black dress. i wore an outfit very similar to this one. sporting some black nail polish, red lips, and that exact necklace that i bought over christmas. it is the best addition- dresses up even a basic tee and jeans.
what did you do this past weekend?
i hope that you had a lovely weekend.
enjoy the little things,
